In a recent smartphone released by HMD global i.e Nokia 8.3, It used Snapdragon 765G which is one step below the Snapdragon 865 processor
The
chip manufacturing giant Qualcomm has recently launched its flagship
Snapdragon 865 chipsets as the successor to Snapdragon 855+ SoC. Qualcomm
says the new Snapdragon 865 can boost the CPU performance by 25% and
20% GPU performance increase over the previous generation Snapdragon
855.
Also,
the new 865 SoC supports LPDDR5 memory. Many companies like Samsung,
Xiaomi and Oppo have already integrated this new Snapdragon 865 the chipset in their new flagship smartphones. But some companies have opted
not to use like HMD global which recently launched its flagship mobile
Nokia 8.3. And companies like Google and LG are also planning to ditch
Snapdragon 865 in their smartphones that they are going to release in the future because of the higher price tag. These are some of the
reasons to not use Snapdragon 865
The High Cost of the
Snapdragon 865 soc may be one of the reasons along with the requirements of a bigger battery, a bigger screen which will, in turn, makes the smartphone costly to recover the production costs. Ultimately a bigger smartphone to be sold in the market at a higher price. Nokia 8.3 the smartphone has made use of the Snapdragon 765G chipset which has a
performance just below 865 soc.
And As per reported in Telecom tech, Google will not be going to equip its flagship mobiles
Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 5 XL with Snapdragon 865 processor and instead
would be using Snapdragon 765G, And it is also mentioned in the same
report that Google will not be using 865 Soc in any of its future
flagship mobiles. In a similar development, LG is also using Snapdragon
765G in LG G9 ThinQ, ThinQ series which is the flagship line of the
company. But LG V60 ThinQ that the company released still has
Snapdragon 865 SoC itself.
Xiaomi's flagship mobile Redmi K30 Pro
Launched With Snapdragon 865 Processor, This smartphone has a
Snapdragon 865 processor under board along with 5G support and a huge battery backup of 4,700 mAh Battery for longer life. Redmi K30 Pro is
currently limited to the Chinese market, it was expected to launch in
India but postponed due to pandemic to Sept 2020. There are different
