Lockdown 3.0 imposed by the Center across the country as part of the Mayadari Corona Strip will expire on the 17th of this month. In the wake of increasing COVID-19 cases in the country, the central government recently decided to extend the nationwide lock down till 17 May. The lock down, which came into effect on 25 March, was originally due to end on 14 April but was first extended till 3 Mayand then for another two weeks. However, the latest extension comes with a number of relaxations for the general public and permits various activities that were previously not allowed.
However, most of these respites are for citizens in non-hotspot zones only. Furthermore, the government has also segregated all the districts in the country into red, orange and green zones, with red zone containing areas that are still grappling with the spread of virus while green zone being the ones that have managed to contain the spread and have not reported any new case in last 21 days. In lock down 3.0, the government has permitted mobility for certain activities in order to revive the economy and allow people to earn their livelihood. Red zones
Red zones are the ones that are the most affected by COVID-19 and, as a result, enjoy minimum relaxation in the lock down. The clusters in red zones that have been identified as containment areas are subjected to even stricter monitoring and people can move out only for medical emergencies or for essential commodities.
However, areas outside containment zones get a bit of leeway and the government has allowed a number of activities: manufacturing of essential goods like drugs, medical devices, and their transportation, manufacturing of IT hardware, jute industry, and construction activities (provided the workers live on the site). The government has also allowed standalone shops to open while e-commerce activities for essentials is also allowed. All private offices in red zones can start operations but at 33 per cent employee capacity only and government offices will also continue in non containment zones.

These include running taxi services (driver with two passengers only) and inter-district movement of people and vehicles for permitted activities. - Inter-state travel by road, and travelling by rail, air, and metro
- Running educational and training institutions (online classes allowed)
- Hospitality services including hotels and restaurants
- Places of large gatherings like gym, theatres, malls, bars, etc.
- Religious and social gatherings
- Movement of people between 7 PM to 7 AM (next day) for non-essential activities
